La Salle, DGS focus on Jing Ying honours

La Salle College and Diocesan Girls' School (DGS) will be among the contenders for honours at the All-Hong Kong Jing Ying badminton competition which starts tomorrow at Kowloon Park Sports Centre.

The four-day tournament will feature singles and doubles action. In the boys' secondary section, La Salle's Hui Wai-ho is expected to lead the way in the singles. He was the outstanding

player in last year's inter-school badminton competitions.

Wai-ho joined the national youth squad in 2001 and has since competed at the Asian Schools Badminton Championships and All-China Secondary School Student Games, where he helped Hong Kong win team honours.

Among the girls, May Kwan Cheuk-ying of DGS is likely to be a finalist in both singles and doubles. She was the best player in last year's inter-school badminton competitions. The contest moves from Kowloon Park to the Harbour Road Sports Centre in Wan Chai on Sunday.

The competition will be continued on November 20 and 21.
