Imagine IF YOU received a call from a high school teacher claiming that she has been kidnapped and the lives of her son and husband are in danger. What would you do?
That's the plot of Cellular, a silly but entertaining thriller starring Kim Basinger, Chris Evans and Jason Statham.
Directed by David R Ellis (Final Destination 2), the film revolves around Jessica (Basinger), a science teacher who is kidnapped by a gang headed by Ethan (Statham) and is held in the attic of a farmhouse for some mysterious reasons.
Carefree surfer Ryan (Evans) is her only saviour. Ryan is convinced by Jessica's frantic screaming that it is a matter of life and death.
He has to try and stay on the line while he goes on car chases and gets into fist fights.
The film suggests that Los Angeles is quite a dangerous and lawless city because police officers are not interested in catching the criminals.
And there's plenty of mayhem in the city - kidnappings, killings, car thefts and armed robberies.
