NOT one accident has occurred in the 30 years since the Road Safety Association set up the school crossing patrols. So it was only fitting that this point was emphasised by Chief Superintendent James Walker at this year's presentation of awards for the annual foot drill, duty performance and regional inspection competitions. The 66 teams who took part in this year's competition before Governor Chris Patten earlier this year were praised by Mr Walker and the Road Safety Association for their excellent safety work. Mr Walker told the patrol members at the award ceremony at the Police Officers' Club in Wan Chai: ''You have the proud record of never having been the cause of an accident at any crossing manned by the road safety patrol.'' John Maxwell, of the Road Safety Association, said he was proud of every one of the patrols in the territory, currently in excess of 200.
