AN unemployed man on trial for seven armed robberies was acquitted halfway through the case yesterday after a High Court judge directed a jury to pass not guilty verdicts on him.
Cheuk Chung-lim, 31, was accused by the Crown of bursting into the Mandarin Laboratory in Kwun Tong with four masked men armed with pistols and knives.
It was alleged that the negatives for the Cantonese film Kar Yau Hei Sze (All's Well Ends Well) were demanded during the robbery on January 9 last year.
Other robberies included a raid on a Hunghom jewellery shop.
