FINANCIAL Secretary Hamish Macleod appealed to office workers to strip away their formality yesterday.

Leading the way by taking off his tie - and the ties of those around him - Mr Macleod said he wanted employers and employees to ''dress down'' for a change.
He said the sloppier people dressed the better.
The seemingly bizarre request was not a joke but the launch of a new Community Chest charity drive, called Dress Down Day.
''As patron of Dress Down Day, and a member of the largest group of employees - the Civil Service - I want people to follow my lead,'' Mr Macleod said.

The first territory-wide fund raising day will be held on December 17 with a $3 million target.
