Tait sets record in mountain series

Neil Tait demolished his own 20km record yesterday when he stormed to victory in the King of the Hills Mountain Marathon Series in Sai Kung Country Park. Tait charged home in one hour, 28 minutes and 28 seconds, shaving nine minutes off his course record and finishing more than six minutes ahead of triathlete Gary Mundy, in the first of the five-race series. John McKivin won the 36km race in 4:14.52, two minutes ahead of Mak Ping-yin. The next race in the series will be held on December 12 in Tai Po, where competitors will negotiate the Pat Sin Leng mountains and Plover Cove Reservoir.
