Name: Carmen Ho Wan-yi School: Sacred Heart Canossian College Grade: Form Seven Sports: Basketball, football, athletics Achievements: As captain of the school basketball team, Carmen led Sacred Heart to the Division One (Hong Kong Island) Grade A title last week. They beat Ying Wa Girls' School 37-30 in the final, where Carmen was the top scorer with 12 points and also led in defensive and offensive rebounds. Last year she represented Hong Kong schools in the Interport Basketball Competition. Carmen also plays for South China in the local adults' league. She used to play a lot of football. She also represented her school in the 4x400-metre relay in the Division One athletics competition last year. This year she is focusing on basketball because of the A-level exams. Soundbite: 'I feel honoured that I have been picked to lead Sacred Heart. We are very co-operative, devoted and united. We cannot say that we must win, but we can put in 100 per cent effort.' Interests: Listens to music and reads a lot. From her coach: 'Carmen is a hard-working girl who has yet to fully develop her potential. She can do better if she gets more opportunities. She already has the ability to change a match,' said South China coach Lam Chun-wai. 'From Form One, we had no doubt about her potential. But she is too humble, which is not suitable for a sports star. As for her skills, Carmen hasn't changed much from her Form Three and Form Four years, but she plays with a lot more heart now. I am happy to see this change in her attitude,' said Sacred Heart coach Joey Suen. Ambitions: Hopes to take a suitable course at university. Would like to see her school's Grade C basketball team achieve a better result than last year, when they finished seventh. Hopes her school will improve their overall ranking in her final year, although she admits this will be difficult. Wants her schoolmates to do their best and have no regrets at all.
