Apple Computer champions its recently upgraded iBook line as the most affordable PowerPC G4 processor-based system on the market.
Based on the features of the new 14-inch G4 iBook with SuperDrive, Apple seems well aware of truth in advertising.
This machine may be priced lower than most notebook computers, but it packs a lot of power.
For less than $12,000, it runs a 1.33-gigahertz G4 PowerPC chip, built-in AirPort Extreme wireless networking system and slot-load SuperDrive for burning DVDs.
The previous top model in the iBook range had up to 1.2GHz processing power, while the SuperDrive and wireless connection setup came as separately priced extras.
What remains an option is the internal Bluetooth module used to connect peripheral equipment such as Apple's wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. The iBook line has pre-installed the latest Apple operating system - Mac OSX version 10.3, dubbed Panther.
It also delivers enhanced Windows compatibility, which enables an iBook user to easily share files, printers and network services with Windows users.
