Updated at 6.30pm: The Centre for Health Protection confirmed on Wednesday that 42 more food poisoning cases have been linked to a restaurant in Mongkok. The restaurant is Shanghai Kitchen and is located at Langham Place. It has been closed for disinfecting since November 28, local radio reported. The total number of people who have been ill since eating food at the restaurant has now risen to 102. The 42 new cases were all people who experienced vomiting, abdominal pains and diarrhoea. On Tuesday, the restaurant was inspected by officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, the Apple Daily reported. A department spokesman said the outbreak was caused by cross-contamination of prepared food with raw bacterial food. The Centre of Health Protection is conducting tests on excreta samples collected from patients. The results were expected to be available later on Wednesday.
