DAVID LEE has had designs on moving forward in his exciting career for more than 10 years, but would like a chance to showcase his talent with cutting-edge style.
As a designer, Mr Lee has created a variety of products for the consumer market. After working for many years designing mostly 'everyday items like blenders and toasters', he has arrived at a point in his career where he would like more freedom to express his creativity and take more responsibility for his designs.
He maintains the aesthetic value of a product is its biggest selling point.
'It's usually the colour or aesthetic element, not the [fuel consumption] or what's under the [bonnet] that makes the biggest impact on people when they're deciding what car to buy,' he said.
'Design is what gets people in the door so we can sell [a product] to them.' He said mobile phones were sold almost purely on design. 'It's how the buttons feel on your fingers or a phone's image.'
His background includes stints at the United States-based product development firm Harbinger International (Hong Kong) as project manager/senior designer; as senior designer at domestic appliance manufacturer Chiaphua Industries and as contract designer for local consultancy Formart Industrial Design.
