Stick around until the final event at Happy Valley this afternoon where Caspar Fownes-trained Military Option should win his second race this term. He was an impressive winner over the Valley mile earlier this season, unleashing an exciting turn-of-foot in the process.
The gelding proved that run was no fluke when flashing home for fifth behind Win For All at Sha Tin over 1,600 metres, in a race where the slow early sections made it virtually impossible for him to win.
The fact he was able to come from near last on the turn, and clock a final 400m in 22 seconds, made that effort every bit as good as his previous run. Gerald Mosse takes over the reins this time round and will need an ounce of luck through the run, remembering he jumps out of gate 12.
Obviously, the main concern surrounding Military Option is that he likes to settle in a rearward position - not always the best place to be on the C+3 course where on-pace runners often dominate. There is a strong probability this event will be run at an even-to-strong tempo, with the inclusion of Fantastico, Tsz Wan Fortune and Ahead A Head, which will help Military Option's cause.
