PERUVIAN talent Jaime Yzaga has replaced Ukrainian teenager Andrei Medvedev for this week's $5.4-million Marlboro Championships, which begin on Tuesday at Victoria Park. Yzaga, one of the hottest players on the circuit, will join a top international line-up. Tournament director Brian Catton said Yzaga had replaced Medvedev because the Ukrainian's recent performances had not measured up to his current ranking of eighth in the world. ''Following discussions, we reached a mutual agreement with Andrei to accept his offer to withdraw from the tournament. On current form, Yzaga is not only a new face but comes to Hong Kong with the best credentials,'' Catton said. ''We are excited to have secured Yzaga, who will be making his debut in the Marlboro tournament and is highly confident of following his success in Sydney, adding spice and flavour to the Hong Kong event.'' Yzaga won the recent Australian Indoor Championships in Sydney after defeating three of the world's leading players - Jim Courier, Goran Ivanisevic and Petr Korda. He also claimed the scalp of US Open semi-finalist Wally Masur in the same tournament. Meanwhile, former world number one Stefan Edberg jetted into the territory to begin preparations for the Marlboro Championships.
