For those with a taste for fine wine or an eye for exquisite art, French champagne house Dom Perignon has released an exclusive item that is sure to interest connoisseurs of both. The Irodori Box, which contains a bottle of Dom Perignon Vintage 1996, was conceived with the aid of one of Japan's most successful modern artists, Eriko Horiki. The hand-made box consists of layers of rainbow-coloured Japanese washi paper, prepared leaf by leaf and cut to provide a unique presentation case for the champagne. The paper is said to break down light into a myriad of colours, reflecting the radiance of the exceptional 1996 vintage. With only 1,996 boxes made and just eight available in Hong Kong, demand for the $5,000 art-piece-cum-bottle-holder is expected to be high.
