SCMP Reporter

The Last Breakthrough is a drama on TVB Jade running from Monday to Friday at 9.35pm. Every Monday, we will publish the synopses of the week's episodes.

Episode 15 (December 6)

Fun's parents are so happy to see Kiu waiting for Fun at the hospital that they jump to the conclusion that Kiu and Fun are dating.

Ching  tells Fun to cherish Kiu and grasp the opportunity to be happy.   Fun doesn't think he can make Kiu happy and  encourages Jing to date Kiu.

Kiu's brother Ken, who suffers from anaemia, is tired of  injections and blood transfusions. A bone marrow donor has been found,  but there is only a 30 to 40 per cent chance of a successful operation.

Episode 16 (December 7)

Kiu's relationship with her mother, Man, went sour when she left Ken and Kiu because she could not cope with   the stress of  taking care of Ken.

Now Man promises Kiu to face the problem together and  put their grudges behind them.

Ken's bone marrow transplant is successful. A man comes to visit Ken and he turns out to be  Man's boyfriend.

Episode 17 (December 8)

Kiu encourages Jing to contact Lam so Jing writes her the first letter.

Man  is going to get married and settle down in Singapore and wants to take Ken along.  Kiu objects. Jing  tells Kiu that she should let Ken live a normal  life and release herself of the burden. After Man and Ken leave Hong Kong,  Kiu decides to join Life Force. Jing receives a letter from Lam saying that she is getting married soon. Jing wants Kiu to go   with him to Guangxi  for Lam's wedding.

Life Force plans to  set up a tuberculosis prevention centre in Guangxi and Fun  asks Kiu to  join the project.

Episode 18 (December 9)

Jing visits his family in Guangxi, but his eldest brother orders him to leave and his father ignores him. His father is angry because Jing left them when they needed him most.

A  group of patients  showing symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea turn up at Long Shing. Heng suspects it's food poisoning from a nearby restaurant and goes there to investigate.

He gets into a brawl with the restaurant owner.

Episode 19 (December 10)

Jing's father gets stomach cramps and Jing carries him on his back to the hospital.

On the way he apologises to his father. The two reconcile and his father encourages him to try to win Kiu's love.
