A recent study of 15-year-olds by the Programme for International Student Assessment concluded that students in Hong Kong perform well academically, but are generally less happier than their foreign counterparts.
More than 10 per cent even went so far as to say that school was a waste of time.
As my mother always says: 'If you don't like it, find something worth liking. Make yourself like it.'
Although she was talking about my university course material, what she said is applicable to school life, too.
If you feel unhappy at school because success is measured by academic achievements, branch out and make it clear that you are more than a string of test scores and prizes.
Figure out what you like about school and make the most of it. Or, better yet, decide what you don't like about school and try to change it.
For example, if you think that fellow students lack school spirit, start a campaign to liven up the environment. You don't always have to go to the student union to get things done. In fact, my university's Undergraduate Assembly is frequently called the Useless Assembly.
