A TEAM effort between a major paint producer ship builders has resulted in development of a new range of super heat-resistant, weldable shop primers.
The new zinc silicate products offer shipbuilders unrivalled performance at significantly reduced costs, according to the manufacturers.
The products, introduced by International (Courtaulds Coatings) in association with Nippon Paint in Japan, use technology developed jointly between Nippon Paint and the Shipbuilders' Association of Japan (SAJ).
The result is the Interplate Nippe Ceramo family of primers, which include the Nippe Ceramo, Nippe Ceramo FW and Nippe Ceramo SW, which heralds a new era in shipbuilding technology.
Already extensively tested and proven in Japan's most demanding newbuilding market, Interplate Nippe Ceramo shop primers are now available worldwide.
Whatever the size and technical capabilities of a shipyard, the manufacturers say the primers offer world class standards with the best overall balance of properties, enabling overall shipyard production requirements to be met or exceeded.
