If you have trouble falling asleep, maintaining sleep, wake earlier than you wish, feel unrefreshed after sleep or suffer from excessive sleepiness during the day or when you wish to be alert, it's advisable to seek medical help.

In the first instance, you can contact your family doctor, who may refer you for specialist help.

Depending on where you live, referrals may be made to the department of psychiatry at Queen Mary Hospital, which may send you to the Sleep Disorders' Clinic for assessment.

Or you can make an appointment at the Li Ka Shing Specialist Clinic at the Prince of Wales Hospital on 2632 2415. The clinic may refer you to its Sleep Assessment Unit at Sha Tin Hospital.
