A three-storey town house in Shek O is on sale by tender as the luxury property market strengthens.

Built in 1974, the 1,800 square foot house has a 428 sqft garden and is on the north side of Shek O Headland.

Alice Wan Wan-man, a property agent at marketing agent Centaline Property Agency, said targeted buyers were members of the nearby Shek O Golf Club.

Ms Wan did not disclose the price but she said a nearby house was sold for $14 million six months ago.

'We have received quite a number of inquiries from foreigners and locals,' she said.

The tender will close at noon on January 18.

Riding on a wave of robust economic performance, the luxury residential market in Hong Kong continues to be the most resilient residential segment, according to Jones Lang LaSalle.

Underpinned by limited new supply and keen demand, the number of transactions in the luxury segment increased 62.2 per cent year on year, with some transactions reaching levels last seen in 1997.

In the leasing market, rents for luxury properties went up 20.2 per cent this year over last, largely driven by multinational companies hiring more staff.

Property consultants expected the luxury residential segment to continue to lead the market because of keen demand and limited supply.
