A new activity centre aims to give children the confidence they need to explore their hidden talents and natural abilities through nothing but pure fun.
The Little Gym, a children's development programme with locations in 14 countries, opened its new 5000-square- foot facility in the New World Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui on Sunday.
The centre, for infants and children up to 12 years old, offers non-competitive gymnastics to build co-ordination and flexibility, as well as enhance emotional and intellectual skills.
'We use gymnastics as a means to develop self confidence - it is unique in Hong Kong' said Walter Assang, owner of the Little Gym Hong Kong.
'We organise group activities in which all participants play an important role. They have so much fun, they don't even know that they are learning.
'We do it in a way that makes them think about the challenge they face. We don't expect children to be the best - just to try their best. All of our programmes are strictly non-competitive, which allows children to take risks. It rewards their individual efforts with consistent, positive feedback. Children are very responsive to this approach,' he said.
