Michael Liu Kwok-kui, 38, is fed up with what he says is a litany of poor government decisions. Trip from Quarry Bay to Tuen Mun. Fare: $338 I will not buy the shares of the Link Management. If the Housing Authority can manage those shopping malls and car parks well and make a profit out of them, then for sure the government will not sell them. I am sure the shares are not worth buying, as I have no confidence in the government. I just do not trust it. When I read the news about the court case, it clearly shows how incompetent our government is. Every policy it introduces just causes trouble instead of bringing benefits to us. The government cannot manage its own property well on its own, no matter whether it sells it or keeps it. Trouble also rose after selling the Hunghom peninsula. I am sure the central government must have intervened and ordered the SAR government and the private developers not to demolish those buildings. If those government officials dare to go against Beijing's will, I think they will suffer a lot. I do not think those developers will change their mind because of people power and the green groups. It must be the Beijing government. You see, China always cares about Hong Kong and Macau, because they want to set good models for Taiwan. I think Taiwanese President Chen Shui-bian is such a trouble-maker. He always stirs trouble in the cross-strait relationship. Nobody wants to have a war. Taiwan should be taken back and united with China as one country. We are all Chinese after all. It is good that Chen finally resigned from his leadership of his political party. I am a father of two sons and my wife is a housewife, but I still have not bought a flat. I have no confidence in the present government and Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa. He is only good at making things worse and wasting taxpayers' money. He should waste his own family's money. Though stock prices of his family business have risen twentyfold, I am afraid he will not live long enough to enjoy life, as he is being cursed by many Hong Kong people every day. I used to be a construction worker and I tried working in restaurants. But there is no future in those fields, so I switched to driving. I can make more money if I work harder. There was a protest at the Tamar site against tightening the law which heavily penalises drivers who run red lights. We want to stop in front of the red light too, but sometimes we just cannot control this. Some drivers might be closely behind us and if we stop, then accidents happen. It is very stupid for the government to change the law without thinking about our difficulties. I tell you, we really cannot rely on the government nowadays. Nothing it does is good for us. Look at Macau. It is doing great. They only do gambling business and that works very well. They only rely on one industry to boost the economy. Look at us. The government claims it has comprehensive policies to strengthen economic development, but nothing works well, and all walks of life are suffering from poor government. I hope the government can formulate policies that can really help us, especially the grass roots. We are really having a hard time. I do not think the opening of Disneyland will help us at all. The admission tickets are so expensive. Tourists already have to spend so much on tickets and hotels; will they still spare some for taxi drivers? I really do not understand what our government is thinking. It always thinks that its policies are helping us, but in fact they just makes things worse. I do more night service because it is easier to find customers who want to go to faraway places. But triad society members always disturb us and collect protection money from us. I do not want to be rude to customers, but short trips are really not good for us.
