If you have the experience and confidence to deal with Hong Kong's top media and movers and shakers - and are a dab hand at communications and public relations - this could be just the job for you.

A global hotel company, the world's largest in terms of the number of rooms, would like to recruit a replacement manager of PR and communications.

Although this was a replacement position, it was one 'with a new focus', said Carole Klein, director of PR and communications at the InterContinental Hong Kong.

In particular, this shift in perspective meant that the successful applicant would focus on 'achieving measurable media coverage by proactive communication with targeted Hong Kong and mainland media'.

The person must also develop and deliver the hotel's PR and communications strategy for the mainland market, Ms Klein said.

'We are looking for someone who will help us raise the hotel's profile locally via social networking and luxury brand strategic alliances,' she said.

Other duties go beyond Hong Kong, such as developing PR strategies and actions to build awareness in the mainland market.
