To learn more about their motherland, 170 local secondary students are spending their Christmas holidays in Beijing.
It is part of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Award Scheme for Hong Kong Student Leaders: National Education Course - which kicked off last week at Renmin University in the Chinese capital.
The participants will undertake a 10-day course which includes lectures and seminars on China's latest developments in politics, economics, science and technology and education.
They will also be given the chance to roam through the city and share their thoughts on it.
Speaking at the course's opening ceremony last week, Hong Kong Jockey Club chief executive Lawrence Wong Chi-kong told young leaders: 'We hope that students will make the most of this experience to better equip themselves for the future developments of Hong Kong and the mainland.'
The participants were chosen from about 420 applicants from 230 schools. They are required to submit reports about their experience upon their return to Hong Kong and promote national education in their respective schools.
