It takes four minutes from Lowu station to Laojie in Dongmen - the most popular shopping area for Hong Kong visitors - and 15 minutes to the Shenzhen Exhibition Centre. From Lowu to the Window of the World station it will take about 35 minutes. The Shenzhen Metro will only accept yuan. Hong Kong Octopus cards cannot be used. Fares range from 2 to 5 yuan. Tickets expire if passengers stay on the metro for more than two hours. Students, the elderly and disabled receive a 50 per cent discount. Lost tickets are subject to a 10-yuan compensation fee. Tokens or multi-journey tickets can be bought at ticket offices or from automatic ticket machines. Eating and smoking is prohibited. Offenders face a maximum penalty of 5,000 yuan. No more than 30kg of luggage is allowed and pets are banned. There are public toilets at each station. Two elevators for the disabled have been installed at every station.
