Photos capture the city's poor
A photo album of children living in poverty has been published to raise funds for the Society for Community Organisation (SoCO).
According to SoCO, 350,000 children in Hong Kong live below the poverty line. Hunger, lack of clothing and restricted learning opportunities - all features of third-world countries - are also found here in our affluent society.
The photo album, priced at $150, is a collection of works by local photographers Dickson Lee and Leung Yiu-wing. It portrays the daily lives of 29 children who share our city, but not our fate. They often only survive by picking through garbage.
There is also an exhibition of selected pictures from the album in Exhibition Area 4, Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, from now until Friday. Opening hours: 10am to 10pm.
