Kwun Tong Kung Lok Government Secondary School held its annual sports days on November 23 and 24 at Kowloon Bay Sports Ground.

It was a battle for the overall championship right up to the very last race.

In the end, defending champions East House (pictured right) won again.

The enthusiastic cheering squads cheered their house members on.

There were many highlights during the two-day meet, including a new record in the Grade B 100-metre hurdles set by Cheung Man-lung of 4C. The boys' and girls' inter-school 4x100m  invitational relays were both won by the HKTA Yuen Yuen Institute No 3 Secondary School.

Guest-of-honour  Yuen Ka-chung, a former teacher at the school and presently the vice-principal of Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon), shared  memories of her time at the school and praised the students for their school spirit.

After all the races and the last speech,  the crowd sang the school song and sports day officially came to a close.

Ha Kwai Chung Government Secondary School held its 26th annual sports day on November 23 and December 10.

The most exciting event was the 4x100 m relay between alumni, parents and teachers.

Chung Wing-fu, Yim Wing-kwun and Wu Hoi-kit emerged as champions in boys' Grade A, B and C, respectively. Cheng Oi-wan, Au Tze-yan and Fung Pui-yan took the girls' titles, respectively.

Knowledge House clinched the overall championship, the overall girls' championship and the best cheerleader's award. Trust House took the overall boys' championship.

At the closing ceremony, principal Hung Chun-may praised students for breaking the records in the boys' Grade A high jump and long jump.

Guest-of-honour  Ng Ngan-ling, the former physical education panel head, urged students to develop a habit of exercising to lead a healthier life.

The sports day ended on a high note with the singing of the school song.

Legislative Councillor Audrey Eu Yuet-mee  addressed the congregation and distributed certificates and prizes at the annual speech day of Sheng Kung Hui Bishop Mok Sau Tseng Secondary School on November 25 (pictured below). She pointed out that  today's youth are indifferent to politics and show concern only to matters related to their own interests.

She said transportation, city planning, environmental protection, education and medical services all played an important role in everyone's life.

In her view, students who want to realise their dreams should develop more political awareness because dreams or ambitions can only be achieved under a stable government.

Acting principal Kam Chi-fun presented the school report for the previous year.

Students achieved impressive results in public examinations and outstanding results in inter-school competitions and various extra-curricular activities.

The dance team continued to excel at the 40th Hong Kong Schools Dance Festival, obtaining 10 honour awards, three highly commended awards and four choreography awards.

These remarkable performances were the result of the partnership between teachers and students.

With its  30th anniversary approaching, the school will continue to provide students with a caring and nurturing environment in which they can develop their potential and participate in society in the future.

Another exciting sports day was held by Tuen Mun Government Secondary School at Yuen Long Stadium on November 25 and 26.

Most memorable were the Harry Potter-influenced designs of the cheering teams: a dragon for Red House and a castle for Yellow House.

The youthful spirit on display, along with newly introduced performances by the cheering teams, made a good impression on  guest-of-honour Kung Ngan-kwok, assistant principal of Sheung Shui Government Secondary School.

Mr Kung gave a speech after presenting the prizes.

He then continued with the theme of the three Rs in sport: respect for fair play, responsibility to do your best and resilience to try again.

Everyone was a winner, even if there were no medals.

Blue House won this year's overall girls' team championship, while the overall boys' team championship went to Red House.

The overall house champion was also Red House.
