Tsunami song

A group of local musicians have recorded a new song to help raise funds for the Asian tsunami victims.

The proceeds from their effort will be donated to Red Cross, which is conducting relief operations in many coastal areas ravaged by the massive waves. Produced within a week, the song - in Cantonese, Mandarin and English - is aired on radio stations and will also be sold as part of a mini-album, Give More, later this month. Twenty-one indie bands and musicians have joined the project, which is organised by local label J-Sonic.

Singer-songwriter Ahy, bassist Leonard Lee Chak-man (better known as CM) and producer Jean Michel Ou compiled the tune for the song, Love Will Give This World a Brand New Start, while Calvin

Poon Yuen-leung wrote the lyrics, combining ideas from various musicians.

'When a crisis somehow arises, I'd spare a prayer. But now I could see myself in these roaring waters, striving hard ... May this day be kept in our hearts, start to give hereafter. Just let us stay together. Love will make this world much better,' the lyrics read.

Poon said he hoped the song would encourage the public to continue to help the victims.

'We are racing against time. Hopefully we can get the album out as soon as possible before people's enthusiasm burns out,' he said.
