Pastor reached out to 'flock in need of care'

The Reverend Selina Sun believes her involvement with sexual minorities is 'the most precious moment in my life and a personal experience of walking with God'.

Ms Sun is a member of the Blessed Minority Christian Fellowship (BMCF), a religious group founded by gay Christians in 1992 that enables homosexuals to worship God without fear of being ostracised.

In an article on the Hong Kong Christian Institute website, Ms Sun shares her thoughts and experiences of preaching to homosexuals.

She writes: 'For years, they had been like a cluster of wandering orphans who received no proper care but merely lived under the nourishment of some compassionate pastors who were invited to preach on Sundays.'

Ms Sun had spent five years pondering the meaning of being a pastor, and her recent involvement with the group had shaped her thoughts.

'I came to a definition like this: the mission and the role of a pastor should be living among people; a pastor is not someone who lives a life secured by stable incomes, nor someone who occupies herself with a variety of church chores and yet fails to respond to God's ultimate calling,' she writes.
