In the spotlight
At the age of 16, Julian Cheung Chi-lam moved to Australia with his father, three years after his parents' divorce. In 1990, he completed high school and was ready to go to university. But during his summer vacation, he visited Hong Kong and met his cousin Anna Ueyama, who was then a singer. She introduced Cheung to a talent manager.
In 1991, he released his first album, Modern Love Story - a duet album with Maple Hui Chow-yee which hit double platinum.
In 1992, he starred in his first television drama, Peak of Passion and in the following year, acted in his first movie, A Warrior's Tragedy. He rose to fame with the film Legend of the Condor Heroes 1994.
