EIGHTY-NINE university students gained hands-on marketing experience by formulating strategies for four Hong Kong companies.
The final-year students from the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) took part in a three-month consultancy project organised by CityU's marketing department.
They were divided into 16 teams and assigned to the CASH Group, Ferti Jewelry, Fortress and Dairy Farm Group. The students had to choose a topic, conduct research based on customers' needs and have regular meetings with company staff. At the end of the programme, they presented the marketing strategies to their respective companies.
At an awards presentation, four champion teams received trophies, while each participant got a certificate.
Professor Lai Kin-keung, associate dean of CityU's business faculty, said the project enabled the students to apply what they had learned in class to the real world.
The companies were delighted with the students' performance. Fortress marketing manager, Elman Lee, said: 'They gave us a fresh insight into a number of areas we can improve on. We were pleased to work with such energetic teams.'
