familiarity breeds intrigue over Hans energy's man of mystery
It can take journalists a very long time before they are on a first name-basis with some executives. With other company officials, a lofty state of easy familiarity is achieved during the first swap of name cards.
So it is with David An, chairman of main board-listed Hans Energy, whose name card lists him only as 'David', or 'Da Wei' in Chinese.
Mr An - errr, we mean David - is an international man of mystery in other ways as well. His official bio in the firm's annual report cites little more than his 'many years of experience in China trade particularly in the trading of petroleum products and petrochemicals, properties [sic] investments and development in China'.

Hong Kong people have risen admirably to the fund-raising challenge presented by the tsunami catastrophe. Lai See tips his cap to all efforts but was especially impressed by former South China Morning Post business editor Nick Thompson, who spent Sunday ploughing up and down the Belchers' 25-metre pool in a fund raiser for the Red Cross appeal.
