A MENTALLY ill man who robbed a jewellery shop twice in two months was sent to a psychiatric centre by a District Court judge yesterday. Yim Fu-chung, 37, had pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery. Deputy Judge Patrick O'Donnell sent the accused to Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre for treatment with a maximum term of three years. Senior Crown Counsel Stewart Hau said Yim entered Nam Shing Goldsmith Shop in Sheung Shui at 4 pm on April 3. After asking to see some goods, he took out a chopper, stole eight necklaces and fled. On June 24, Yim robbed the shop at 4.35 pm. He escaped with 49 gold necklaces but surrendered to police the next day.
