Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa has bowed to pressure from the legislature and will take part in events at which members of the public can quiz him on his policy address.
Some lawmakers made the request after he delivered his address on Wednesday.
After a telephone conversation with Mr Tung, legislator Chan Yuen-han of the Federation of Trade Unions said the chief executive had agreed to channel his views directly to the public at future events.
She said she had proposed he take part in live television and radio panel discussions and public forums where he could be questioned on his policy blueprint.
'Mr Tung said it was a good idea as he had similar ideas after considering the public demand. But he said he was still considering what form the events should take,' Ms Chan said.
Ms Chan asked Mr Tung not to hold the events later than January 28 as Legco would debate his policy address that week.
