Hegemony or Survival

Hegemony or Survival

by Noam Chomsky

Penguin $112

The US is the most reprehensible of all the major powers and its foreign policy is pernicious, Noam Chomsky claims. For more than half a century, it has been pursuing an imperial strategy with the aim of dominating the globe. Washington's aggressive pursuit of policies is intended to achieve 'full spectrum dominance' at any cost. It's the greatest menace to the national self-determination of other countries, and threatens world peace and international co-operation. The US is a supporter and a perpetrator of terrorism on a grand scale against those it perceives as its enemies. Chomsky's attitude to the September 11 attacks is typical: he claims that no matter how dreadful the terrorists' actions were, the US has done worse.
