If your budget doesn't run to designer furniture, how about something custom-made, equally eye-catching, less expensive and with all profits going to a good cause? Inspiring Spaces makes fun and funky beanbags from a variety of fabrics in more than 70 prints, including zebra, cow, leopard (right), florals, stripes and spots. The sassy seats cost $495 each, with all profits going to paediatric wards in Hong Kong's public hospitals. Directors Diana Dalziell and Avelene Edmonstone set up the company to raise funds to assist chronically ill children and they design, manufacture and sell the beanbags without personal profit. More than $25,000 was donated by Inspiring Spaces from its Christmas sales to buy computers and software for the Department of Paediatric & Adolescent Medicine at the Queen Mary, Grantham and Duchess of Kent hospitals. The company is also hoping to begin importing Starlight Fun Centres - a mobile entertainment unit for sick children - from Australia this year.
