It is the size of a pack of cards, but the new Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T33 digital camera comes with features to make picture taking easier for both basic and advanced users. It sells for $3,990 and offers 5.1-megapixel resolution, which makes it capable of taking highly detailed photos and supporting large-image printing. Its Vario-Tessar 3X Zoom lens, from world-famous Carl Zeiss, provides pin-sharp focus and smooth zoom function. Viewing and framing images is supported by a sizeable 2.5-inch display. PictBridge technology allows a user to connect directly to a compatible printer without the need for a PC.

Before the iPod, there was the Walkman. Sony's portable music player, which will turn 26 years old on July 1, continues to adapt to changes in style and technology. This is apparent in the ultra-slim and lightweight D-NE20, a Walkman that plays standard music CDs and supports both the proprietary Sony Atrac3 digital audio and the ubiquitous MP3-format files. Priced at $1,298, the D-NE20 measures a svelte 127x132.5x13.1mm and features a magnesium body that keep its weight at only 110 grams. It also comes with SonicStage 2.1 software, which allows users to manage their music on their PCs.

The new H10 hard disk drive MP3 player from iriver has some influential supporters. Microsoft chairman Bill Gates showed off the five-gigabyte device as he touted the 'digital lifestyle' at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Priced at $2,380 and available in four colours, the H10 can store up to 2,500 compressed digital music files. It can run up to 12 hours per charge and features FM radio, voice recording and a 1.5-inch colour screen to view photos or text while playing music. This 96-gram MP3 player also supports online portable music subscription services. What's not to like?
