Chief Secretary Donald Tsang Yam-kuen signs a visitors' book at the opening of new checkpoint facilities at the Lok Ma Chau/Huanggang border crossing.

Measures being introduced to speed the flow of passengers and traffic across the border include the installation of more automated customs and immigration clearance channels and more checkpoints. Mr Tsang said passenger flow at Lok Ma Chau had risen more than sixfold since the handover, to 38.1 million last year.
