A BUSINESSWOMAN appeared in Eastern Court yesterday charged with conspiracy to solicit an advantage with a senior immigration assistant.
Angie Lau Qing-qing, 26, the holder of a Dominican passport, was released on bail of $20,000 cash.
It was alleged that between September 12 and October 18 this year she conspired with Chau Chun-tong to solicit from Yuen Kwok-leung a fee or reward for Chau to affix an Immigration Department stamp on a document purported to be a Chinese passport.
No plea was taken and Magistrate Michael Hill adjourned the case for a week for further inquiries.
On Tuesday, Chau, 32, and four other men appeared on a similar charge and were all released on bail.
Yesterday we referred to Chau as a senior immigration officer; in fact his title is senior immigration assistant.
