Making her first Hong Kong appearance with her own trio, US jazz star and three-time Grammy winner Dianne Reeves, who last sang here 24 years ago with Sergio Mendes, wowed an enthusiastic audience and left the stage vowing to return sooner next time.
In a performance which seamlessly joined breathtaking artistry with shameless crowd pleasing, Reeves left the audience in no doubt as to why she is considered one of the most accomplished jazz vocalists alive.
In range, control and expressive depth, there are few singers who can touch her. Her interpretations of even the most unlikely material - she opened with The 12th Of Never - can involve radical arrangements taking her well away from the familiar melodies.
