ex-jailbird legislator hoping for a captive audience in noonlighting role
Lai See is happy to report that the rehabilitation of the Honourable Chim Pui-chung is going from strength to strength. Mr Chim, whose Stanley prison term for conspiracy to forge a share document proved no impediment to his return to the Legislative Council, is now noonlighting - not moon - as a distinguished lecturer for the Hong Kong Securities Institute.
On March 15 - beware the Ides of March - he will be the featured speaker at a lunchtime 'professional development seminar' on 'The Hong Kong Constitutional Affairs and Its Relationship with the Financial Industry' [sic].
What topics might he hold forth on next we wonder? One anonymous tipster has suggested 'Women in Finance' (previous remarks suggest Mr Chim is a bit of a chauvinist), 'Ethics and Other English Counties', 'Getting along - or not - with the Securities and Futures Commission' and '101 Things to Do on a Long Weekend in Stanley'.
