When did you first hear about sex toys?

A sex toy shop first made an impression on me when I was 19. The bus I used to take to school passed by a sex toy shop every day. I was quite curious because it was unusual for the town at that time. But I tended to believe the shop was only for older men.

My ex-boyfriend was educated overseas and he showed me a sex toy he brought back from the US. I was initially really nervous and even a little bit upset at the sight of it but, after using it, I started enjoying it. I started using more of them as he brought them back from his overseas trips.

How did you come up with the idea of opening a sex toy shop?

After becoming a regular user, I started taking an interest in the domestic market and found, to my disappointment, that there was a terrible lack of variety and the products were not attractive to me at all. I had resigned from my previous job at that time, so I decided to start my own business.

I wanted to do it well and to play a leading role in improving the mainland market one day. I opened my first store last year. Instead of invariably naming the shop 'adult health care' - a dull title above most stores of this kind on the mainland - I called it 'G-spot', and registered the trademark. The meaning is clear to foreigners and a euphemism for Chinese.

Who are your customers? Are they men or women?
