Achievements: The 13-year-old impressed at the Watsons Water

Hong Kong Junior Elite Athletic Championships earlier this month  when she set a new Hong Kong age-group record in the girls' Grade B 1,500 metres. Her time of 4 minutes, 59.15 seconds was more than four seconds faster than the old record of 5 minutes, 3.69 seconds.

Since she only stepped up from Grade C this year, breaking the 5-minute barrier was a remarkable achievement. Her effort prompted applause from her coach, parents, and teammates at Wan Chai Stadium.

Soundbite: 'I was so happy about my achievement. All my efforts paid off. I enjoy  running and the  great   sense of satisfaction I get when I cross the finish line. Athletics is interesting and I like running  with my friends.'

Interests:  Roseda represents her school in swimming,  football, basketball, rugby, hockey and netball.  She also likes badminton, windsurfing, table tennis and tennis.

From her coach: 'Roseda showed determination and confidence in setting the new record,' said Leung Tat-wai, coach at Watsons Athletic Club.

'She showed no fear about moving up age groups to Grade B,  and she was very committed during the intensive training stint in Guangzhou over the Christmas holidays.

'Her improvement was obvious and she was in very good condition. She can now aim at the 800m age-group record, which is of a higher standard. In training, she must focus on speed.'

Ambitions: Besides improving her personal best in the 1,500m, she will try to break the girls' Grade B 800m Hong Kong age-group record.

While the Olympics are her ultimate goal, Roseda is looking forward to representing Hong Kong  at overseas competitions. Her immediate target is the All-China Youth Athletic Championships.
