Updated at 5.12pm: Customs has seized a total of 240,000 suspected pirated DVDs - worth up to $6 million, a spokesman said on Wednesday. He said custom officers on Thursday raided a storage centre for the suspected pirated DVDs in a commercial unit in Kwun Tong. They seized about 230,000 DVDs of Japanese cartoons, worth about $5.75 million. Two men and two women, aged 28 to 43, were arrested. The spokesman said that in a follow-up operation, officers raided a logistics company in Sha Tin and seized 10,000 suspected pirated DVDs of Japanese cartoons, worth about $250,000. The spokesman said the logistics company was believed to be exporting the DVDs to the United States. He said customs officers were confident they had arrested the core members of a syndicate.
