AUSTRALIA'S Through Transport (TT) Club is planning to establish a regional office in Hong Kong early next year, staffed with its own senior management. The TT Club is a mutual insurance company specialising in equipment and liability cover for the inter-modal and unit load transport industry. Once it becomes operational, Transport Mutual Services (TMS) in Sydney will report to Hong Kong rather than London. The opening of the regional office will coincide with the retirement of TMS general manager Guy Cassar in February after more than 40 years in the maritime industry. He has worked as a ships agent, as a member of the container stevedoring industry and, for the past seven years, as the Australian general correspondent for TT Club. Mr Cassar will not be replaced as general manager of TMS but Barton Phillips will become the senior executive in charge of the office, working alongside existing colleagues Edwina Lyall and Monica Deblegiers. Norman Lyall, a senior partner in the Sydney law firm of Ebsworth & Ebsworth, will continue to as chairman of TMS.
