WATER quality at seven out of 45 beaches in Hong Kong has improved over the past two weeks.
Although the water quality at Gemini Beach in Tsuen Wan dropped a grade from fair to poor, improvements have been noted at Repulse Bay, Turtle Cove, Stanley Main and Clear Water Bay Second Beach, where the water quality is now good instead of fair.
The situation at New Cafeteria and Hoi Mei Wan beaches has also improved from poor to fair and at Anglers' from very poor to poor.
However, two beaches, Old Cafeteria and Castle Peak, are closed to swimmers because of faecal contamination. Rocky Bay beach is also closed because of poor water quality.
The results were the last gradings to be done by the Environmental Protection Department this year, as the swimming season comes to an end this month.
