Name: Lo Yi-ting

School: Diocesan Boys' School

Grade: Form Four

Sport: Basketball

Achievements: Yi-ting, 17, was a star player for Team Air Hawk, last summer's Nike League champions. He was the top scorer, top three-point shooter and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.

In March, the 1.75m point guard will lead Air Hawk  in the All-China High School League in Nanjing.

Last year, Yi-ting's team clinched the trophy for Hong Kong in the Regional Inter-Port Basketball Competition.

In 2003, he and two teammates competed in the Adidas Basketball Challenge and won.

They then went to Korea to play in the Asian Basketball Championship and came third in the under-19 category.

In the second half of the year, Yi-ting plans to try out for the All-China Student Basketball Championship, in which he can meet and play against top basketball players in China.

Soundbite: 'I played many sports when I was little. When I was about eight, someone in my family bought me a basketball and I have been playing ever since. I enjoy playing the game as it is exciting. I get a great sense of achievement whenever I win.'

Interests:  Going to the movies and listening to music.

From his coach: 'Yi-ting possesses all-round skills. His jumping ability is particularly impressive,' said Warman Cheng, coach at Modern Youth Alliance Association, Yi-ting's team outside school. 'He has a determination to win, but as a point guard he needs to control his emotions better in order to lead the team.'

Ambitions: Yi-ting will continue to study at Diocesan Boys' School.  He hopes to play for Hong Kong in China's professional league, the Chinese Basketball Association.
