A group of number crunchers from Hong Kong International School (HKIS) was placed in the top 22 out of 274 teams at the High School Mathematical Contest.

A total of 228 teams from 43 schools around the world took part in the competition. The HKIS team, comprising Grade 10 students Henry Chu, Victor Leung, Justin Lam and Derek Chan, solved two maths problems during a 36-hour period between November 5 and 22 last year.
The contest give students an opportunity to work as a team. It also aims to stimulate their problem-solving and writing skills.
Judges were impressed by the teams' creativity and their ability to explain their strategies clearly.
