A $60 million gold carriage will be the centrepiece at the Lunar New Year race day at Sha Tin on February 11, the third day of the Year of Rooster.
But no horses will get anywhere near the life-sized carriage, made from 280kg of gold and more than a million jewels, including diamonds.
But race-goers can climb aboard and take photos for $20, with all proceeds going to the Community Chest.
The carriage was made by 3D-Gold, a subsidiary of Hang Fung Gold Technology Group, which made the famous $38 million gold toilet displayed at its shop in Hunghom to set a Guinness world record as the most expensive toilet ever produced.
The gold carriage was originally designed for a concert last year by Canto-pop queen Kelly Chen Wai-lam, according to Hang Fung communications manager Vivian Lai.
'We have been co-operating with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and this year we decided to display the carriage, a gold rooster and a gold wheel of fortune on the Lunar New Year race day.'
