It looks like a joke - or maybe something you would buy furtively at a back-street shop in Mongkok - but the Banana Bunker is apparently  a hit with hikers and campers. The Banana Bunker - a plastic banana-shaped container -  keeps the delicate fruit safe until you are ready to eat it.   However, it's not the only banana protector on the market, with Canadian firm Aberrant Designs also selling its bananaGUARD for US$4 each (www.bananaguard.com). The Banana Bunkers can be purchased through  www.bananabunker.com for US$4.99 each, or US$19.95 for five.
