Father faces murder charge over daughter's decapitation
A man who allegedly chopped off his daughter's head and wounded his son with an axe appeared calm when facing two charges at Kwun Tong Court yesterday.
Li Chi-tang, 67, who has been unemployed for five years, faced one charge of murdering his daughter, Li Yuk-ping, 16, and another of wounding with intent his son, Li Wing-shing, 20, on the 20th floor of their public housing flat in Lee Cheung House, Shun Lee Estate, Kwun Tong.
Li appeared composed and answered yes when asked by Principal Magistrate Kwok Wai-kin if he understood the two charges.
The prosecutor applied to have the case adjourned for two months after the police said it would take that long to receive a DNA report on the dead girl and to complete the investigation.
The prosecutor said Li cut up his daughter with an axe about midday on February 2.
When his son, Li Wing-shing, came home about 3.30pm, the father also attacked him with an axe after a struggle, she said.
