Thai resort Rayavadee, on the tsunami-hit Krabi coast, reopened on February 6. The pavilion-based hotel is in a relatively safe and sheltered location that shields it from the open sea. As a result, it suffered only superficial damage from the Indonesian earthquake.

However, the hotel was closed throughout January for repairs. Refurbishment of its swimming pool and two of its restaurants is continuing. All renovations are due to be completed by early March.

The nearby beaches are reported to be in pristine condition. For more information about Rayavadee and neighbouring areas, call (66 2) 301 1000 or go to www.rayavadee.com.
